The Client
The client is a joint venture responsible for the construction of the Gordie Howe International Bridge. An extension of I-75 at Northern US border, the bridge will provide much need transportation improvements to the region, connecting Detroit, Michigan to Windsor, Canada.
A once-in-a-generation undertaking, the bridge will be among the top five largest in North America once it is completed in 2024. Throughout, the client has partnered with several key stakeholders such as local businesses, professional associations, unions, and educational institutions. All with the aim of strengthening the local economy, creating jobs, and ensure the success of this large-scale project.
Key Challenges
Delivered through a Public-Private Partnership, this project is estimated at roughly $4 billion in total. In addition to the port-of-entry and necessary infrastructure maintenance, the project calls for new roads and pedestrian bridges throughout southeastern Michigan. Furthermore, the joint venture is responsible for the building of toll facilities, as well as a reconfiguration of key I-75 interchange ramps. A tremendous amount of resources, planning, and staff are required to complete not only the Gordie Howe bridge, but critical construction along I-75 as well. The client determined they required the assistance of a staffing provider to help meet this massive undertaking.
